Myth - Meditation is hard

This myth is rooted in the image of what meditation ‘should feel like’. Meditation is not the search for a specific feeling, a state of enlightenment, or even the ability to sit still. It is simply observing what happens and learning to let go of the desire for it to be anything different.

Once the desire is let go, there will be space for things to change.

“I tried meditating on an app once and I couldn’t focus, I couldn’t sit still, I couldn’t clear my mind.. I’m no good at it”. When you haven’t yet been educated or guided through the concept of mindfulness, with the ability to ask questions and learn from feedback, then it is understandable that you feel uncomfortable meditating.

One reason meditation can feel so hard is that we try so hard to concentrate. With feedback on what you are experiencing, you can alter your approach to meditation and find a method that works for you right now.

I have noticed that the biggest shift in my client’s perspectives and relationships to the concept of meditation practice occurs in the first 1 or 2 coaching sessions. Contact details are here for more questions, or find an appointment.
